My Response to His Response

My Response to His Response

Scripture

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

— Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)

Ponder This

We often seek a response from Our Father. We pray, ask, believe, and wait. But what happens when His response is not the one we expected?

Sometimes He says wait. Sometimes He says no. Sometimes He leads us down a path we would not have chosen ourselves.

In those moments, the issue is no longer His response to us. The issue becomes our response to Him. Will we trust Him? Will we surrender? Will we continue to worship Him?

Our worship cannot be built solely on the answers we receive. If we worship only when the outcome pleases us, then our focus has shifted from the Father to the blessing. Mature faith worships Our Father for who He is.

He is still faithful. He is still good. He is still wise. He is still worthy.

Jesus modeled this in Gethsemane. Though the Father’s response differed from what He desired, His answer was, “Not my will, but thine, be done.”

When we worship Our Father for His character rather than fixate on His response, we find peace that transcends understanding and trust that remains steady through every season.

Reflection

Am I more focused on Our Father’s answer, or on the Father Himself?

Prayer

Our Father, thank You for helping us keep our eyes on You. Guard us from becoming so focused on Your response that we lose sight of Your character. Thank You for teaching us to worship You for who You are. You are faithful, loving, wise, and good. We choose for our trust to remain steady whether the answer is yes, no, or wait. You alone are worthy of our worship. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
