No Condemnation

No Condemnation

Scripture

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

— Romans 8:1

Ponder This

One of the enemy’s favorite weapons is condemnation. He reminds us of our failures, our mistakes, and our weaknesses in an attempt to keep us trapped in guilt and shame. But Romans 8:1 declares a powerful truth: there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Notice that the verse says “now.” Not someday. Not after we become perfect. Not after we have proven ourselves. Because of the finished work of Jesus, those who belong to Him are no longer under the sentence of guilt and judgment.

This does not mean we never make mistakes or need correction. Holy Spirit lovingly convicts us when we are off course so that we can repent and grow.

Condemnation says, “You are a failure.”

Conviction says, “You made a mistake; come back to Our Father.”

Condemnation attempts to push us away from Our Father, while conviction draws us closer to Him.

As the Bride of Christ, we are called to walk after the Spirit, allowing Him to guide our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. When accusations arise, we can stand on the truth that Jesus already paid the price for our sin. We are forgiven, redeemed, and accepted in Him.

Reflection

Are you carrying guilt that Jesus already paid for?

Prayer

Our Father, thank You that through Jesus there is no condemnation for those who are in Him. Help me to recognize the difference between Your loving conviction and the enemy’s accusations. Thank You for teaching me to walk in the Spirit and not according to the flesh. When guilt and shame try to return, thank You for always being present to remind me of the freedom, forgiveness, and righteousness I have in Christ. I yield myself to liberty and love in Christ Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
