Ask Our Father for Wisdom

Ask Our Father for Wisdom

Scripture

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

— James 1:5 (KJV)

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

— Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

Ponder This

There are moments in life when strength is not enough, experience is not enough, and our emotions cannot be trusted. In those moments, we do not have to panic, force outcomes, or rely only on what we think we know. We can ask Our Father for wisdom.

Wisdom is more than intelligence. Wisdom is the ability to understand Our Father's perspective and respond according to His will for best outcomes. It helps us speak carefully, move wisely, love in the right way, and make decisions that bring peace and victory instead of confusion and defeat.

Sometimes we ask everyone else what to do before we ask Our Father. We cannot experience the best outcomes when we reason and choose our own or others' opinions, react emotionally, or move too quickly. Scripture reminds us that Our Father gives wisdom freely to those who ask. He is not withholding direction from us. He desires to lead us.

When we slow down, pray, listen, obey and trust Him, He can redirect our thoughts, reveal hidden things, and guide our next steps. His wisdom protects us from unnecessary battles and keeps us aligned with His will.

We do not have to know everything. We simply need to stay connected to the One who does.

Prayer

Our Father, thank You for being the source of all wisdom. Thank You for teaching us to seek You first before reacting, deciding, or moving ahead on our own understanding. Give us wisdom concerning our physical bodies, our homes, relationships, assignments, conversations, financial matters, and daily decisions. Thank You for helping us to hear Your direction clearly and trust the path You reveal. We choose to let Your wisdom produce peace, discernment, and obedience in our lives. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Walk It Out

From now on before making a decision, pause and ask: “Father, what is Your wisdom concerning this?”
