Pray for Parents to Teach
Scripture
"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
— Deuteronomy 6:6-7 KJV
Ponder This
Our Father never intended for the teaching of His ways to be limited to a church building. He entrusted parents with the sacred responsibility of teaching His truth in the everyday moments of life. Whether sitting in the house, walking along the way, lying down, or in waking up, parents have countless opportunities to point their children toward Christ.
Let's pray for parents around the world. Many are carrying responsibilities and burdens that others cannot see. They need wisdom, discernment, patience, and strength as they shape the next generation. And, if you are a parent, take a moment to reflect. Are you intentionally teaching Our Father's truth? Are your children seeing Christ through your example? The greatest lessons are often picked up by children as we role model.
As World Changers, let us not become commentators on the actions of parents, but let's become intercessors for them. Instead of criticizing, let us pray. Instead of judging, let us encourage. Strong parents help build strong families, and strong families help transform communities, nations, and generations.
Prayer
Our Father, we lift up parents around the world today. We ask that You empower them with wisdom, patience, and strength, as well as a desire to teach and guide their children. Thank You for raising up effective laborers that will teach them to faithfully model Your love and truth in their daily lives. For those of us who are parents, thank You for helping us be more intentional in teaching Your ways. And for all of us, teach us to encourage and pray for parents rather than criticize them. We pray for the salvation and discipleship of parents that will result in the next generation raised to know, love, and follow You. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Reflection
Am I praying for the parents who are shaping the next generation? And if I am a parent, am I intentionally teaching Our Father’s truth through both my words and my example?
