Discern, Don’t Assume

Discern, Don’t Assume

(This is a discovery that is intended to ignite your seeking, asking, and knocking.)

Scripture

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

-James 1:5

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

-Romans 8:14

Ponder This

Effective deliverance ministry must include discernment - a quiet, Spirit-led awareness that comes from listening, not rushing. Rushing creates confusion. Listening opens revelation. We minister deliverance best when we choose wisdom over assumption and partnership over pressure.

A Discovery in Discernment:

Listening With Honor

Before ministering freedom, we engage to ask questions of the person and listen:

• “What have you been experiencing?”

• “When did this begin?”

• “Was there a trauma or trigger?”

• “Are you under medical or therapeutic care?”

Listening to the person and Holy Spirit is not weakness. It is wisdom. It helps us see whether the person is navigating something spiritual, emotional, mental, or a mixture.

Seeing Beneath the Surface

As we listen to the person, we are in multiplicity of operation to ask and hear from Holy Spirit:

• “Holy Spirit, what am I really seeing?”

• “Is this oppression, trauma, or something medical?”

• “Show me the true root.”

Discernment protects the person and guides the minister.

Following Peace, Not Pressure

Before moving forward, we pause and check our spirit:

• Do I sense Holy Spirit’s peace?

• Or do I feel a holy pause?

If clarity is missing, we don’t force anything. We can always pray for peace, healing, guidance, and comfort. Holy Spirit never leads through panic, only through peace, wisdom, and precision.

Partnering With Holy Spirit

Invite Holy Spirit. Ask Holy Spirit to:

• “Holy Spirit, You facilitate this moment.”

• “Give me wisdom.”

• “Reveal what I cannot see naturally.”

• “Lead me in Your timing, not mine.”

Deliverance flows best when we slow down and align with Holy Spirit.

Prayer

Father God, give me wisdom beyond myself. Teach me to listen with honor, discern with clarity, and move only by Your leading. I desire and choose to let Your peace guide every decision and Your presence guide every moment. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
