Engage and Hear Children

Engage and Hear Children

Scripture

“He took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.”

– Mark 10:16 (NIV)

Ponder This

Jesus never overlooked children, He engaged them with His presence and heard them with His heart. While others tried to push children aside, Jesus welcomed them as central to the Kingdom.

To engage children means to enter their world with patience, curiosity, and genuine love. To hear children means to listen not only to their words but to their feelings, their questions, and even their silence. When we engage and hear children, we communicate: “You matter, your voice matters, and God’s hand is upon you.”

Our Father often gives children profound insight. Their simple, unfiltered faith can reveal truths that adults might miss. Sometimes the wisdom of a child is the very reminder we need of Our Father’s presence, His promises, and His perspective. When we take time to engage and hear them, we not only bless their growth, we also open ourselves to be shaped by their childlike faith.

Prayer

Father, thank You for showing us how to welcome and bless children. Teach us to engage with them in love and to listen to them with humility. Help us to recognize the wisdom and insight You place in their hearts. We choose to nurture their voices as gifts to the Body of Christ. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Declaration

I declare that children are seen, heard, and valued in the Kingdom of God. We will engage them with love, hear them with patience, and honor the profound insight Our Father often speaks through them.

Activation

Pray with children: Invite them to share their own short prayer in their words. If needed, be ready to help them as Holy Spirit leads you.

Listen intentionally: Ask a child an open-ended question like, “What’s on your heart today?” or “What do you think about this?” Listen for the God-given insight in their answer.

Affirm: Speak a blessing over a child in your life: “You are loved, chosen, and important to God.”
