Opportunity & Opposition

Opportunity & Opposition

“For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”

– 1 Corinthians 16:9 (NKJV)

Paul recognized that when Our Father in Heaven opens a door, it doesn’t always swing wide into an easy path. Instead, open doors often attract opposition. Why? Because the enemy wants to shut down what Our Father is setting up.

A “great and effective door” means opportunity - a chance to advance the Kingdom of God, to grow in faith, to bless others, to step into destiny. But “many adversaries” means that opportunity and opposition often arrive together.

This truth shifts our perspective: resistance is not proof that Our Father has left us; often, it is proof that Our Father is moving us into position. The devil doesn’t fight what doesn’t threaten him. If you’re experiencing pushback, it could be because your blessing or assignment carries weight in the Spirit.

Paul didn’t retreat because of adversaries; he leaned in because the open door was worth the fight. So it is with us. Doors of influence, ministry, healing, provision, or restoration may not come without a battle, but remember: greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Prayer

Our Father, thank You for every open door You set before me. Thank You for helping me not to shrink back when adversaries rise, but to see opposition as confirmation of Your hand at work. Strengthen me to walk through the door by faith, clothed in Your armor, confident that what You have ordained cannot be stolen or stopped. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Activation

Identify one “door” you sense Our Father has opened in your life - an opportunity, assignment, or blessing. Now, list the “adversaries” that have tried to resist you (fear, delay, finances, people, doubt). Pray over that list and declare:“This door is effective, this door is mine, and no adversary can shut what Our Father has opened!” (Read Revelation 3:8).
