Our Father Wants Fiery Devotion
Scripture
“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”
— Revelation 3:15–16 (KJV)
Ponder This
Our Father sees everything. He said, “I know thy works.” He sees when we show up. He sees when we go through the motions. He sees when our worship is distracted. He sees when our love is divided. He said He would rather we be cold or hot.
Why? Because lukewarm is comfortable. Lukewarm is convenient. Lukewarm is loving Him but not fully. Our Father is worthy of more than leftovers. He desires our fiery love. He deserves our fiery love.
Fiery means:
• intense
• passionate
• wholehearted
• burning with conviction
• not easily extinguished
Fiery devotion is not loud emotion. It is steady intensity. It is consistent pursuit. It is love that refuses to cool off. It is not routine devotion, occasional passion, or emotional moments that fade after a congregational service. He deserves loyalty that burns, pursuit that is intentional, and hearts that are undivided.
Fiery devotion means:
He is first. He is not competing with our ambition. He is not competing with our comfort. He is not competing with our distractions.
If we are honest, sometimes we cool off...not because we stopped believing, but because we stopped pursuing. Fire does not stay lit without attention. We don’t wait to feel passion. We choose to draw near. We pray. We worship. We surrender...even when it costs us.
That is fiery devotion.
Prayer
Our Father, You said that You know my works. Search my heart. Burn away anything that makes me lukewarm. Make my love intense. Make my pursuit steady. Make my devotion wholehearted. I refuse comfortable Christianity. I choose to be fiery and devoted concerning you. I choose to passionately do the work that You have assigned to me. You are wonderful and worthy. I choose to honor You greatly. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
