Remember What He Said
Scripture
“Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.”
— Acts 11:16 (KJV)
Ponder This
Peter spoke these words while under scrutiny.
In Acts 11, church leaders in Jerusalem questioned Peter for entering the home of Gentiles and eating with them. What troubled them wasn’t just his behavior, it was that Our Father poured out the Holy Ghost on people they didn’t expect.
As a recognized apostle and leader, Peter was accountable. Yet he didn’t defend himself with tradition, position, or personal reasoning. Instead, he calmly rehearsed what Our Father had done and then said:
“Then remembered I the word of the Lord…”
Peter realized this wasn’t disorder, it was fulfillment. Our Father wasn’t contradicting His Word; He was carrying it out.
Water baptism cleans the outside. The Holy Ghost empowers the inside.
And Peter concluded that resisting this move would mean withstanding Our Father Himself (Acts 11:17).
Present-Day Example
Our Father opens a door (an assignment, relationship, or opportunity) that doesn’t look familiar or approved by everyone. Questions arise. Opinions surface.
Instead of hesitating or defending yourself, you remember what He already said about leading, empowering, and guiding you by His Spirit. Let that remembrance steady you, and you move forward in obedience.
Prayer
ABBA, Father, thank You for bringing Your Word back to my remembrance. When You move beyond my comfort or understanding, I choose alignment and obedience over resistance. Thanks for being patient and merciful, and redirecting me when I may not initially acknowledge you. Open my eyes to Your move. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
