Turn

Scripture: Joel 2:12 (KJV)

“Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.”

Ponder This

Fasting means choosing to go without food for a period of time to give focused attention to Our Father through prayer.

We fast to humble ourselves, seek Him, and turn our hearts toward Him. We make time to pray, read His Word, and obey what He teaches us.

Fasting does not make Our Father love us more or force Him to do what we want. It helps us practice depending on Him. Before we decide what to give up, let us consider why we want to draw near.

Reflection

What is taking my attention away from Our Father? What would turning toward Him look like today?

Prayer

Our Father, thank You for teaching me to seek You with my whole heart. Thank You for helping me to understand how fasting prepares my heart to draw closer to You. I desire and choose to be closer. Strengthen me where I am weak. I am also praying for others in my territory to be strengthened with a desire to turn towards You. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
