Wonder That Leads to Faith
Scripture
“And they were all amazed, and glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.”
— Luke 5:26 (KJV)
Ponder This
Wonder is often the first response when Heaven interrupts the ordinary. In Luke 5, the people did not immediately analyze what they saw, they marveled. They stood in awe, recognizing that something beyond human effort had just taken place. Their wonder caused them to glorify The Father, not the miracle itself.
Wonder is not an end in itself; it is a bridge. It carries the heart from observation to reverence, from amazement to acknowledgment. When we allow ourselves to wonder, we give space for faith to rise. Jesus did not rebuke their amazement. He allowed it to become a testimony: “We have seen strange things today.” In other words, Heaven showed up where we did not expect it.
Many lose wonder because life becomes familiar. Yet the Kingdom of God remains full of holy interruption. When we keep wonder alive, we stay sensitive to the movement of Our Father, even in everyday moments.
Wonder keeps us attentive. Faith grows when we do not rush past the extraordinary presence of Our Father that is often hidden in the ordinary rhythm of life.
Reflection
• When was the last time I paused to marvel at Our Father’s work in my life?
• Have I allowed familiarity to dull my sense of awe?
• What might Our Father be inviting me to notice again?
Prayer
Our Father, restore the wonder of faith within me. Help me to recognize when You are moving, even in unexpected ways. Let my heart remain amazed, my spirit attentive, and my faith responsive. I choose not to grow so familiar that I fail to glorify You when You reveal Your power. Lead me into greater awareness of Your wonders. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
