A Sacred Examination – The Body Scan of The Soul
Scripture:
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
– 2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV)
Ponder This:
Just as a physical body scan detects unseen issues, a spiritual body scan uncovers hidden weaknesses, unconfessed sins, and areas where we have drifted from God’s purpose. We are called to regularly examine ourselves - spirit, soul, and body - to ensure alignment with Christ.
1. Examine Your Spirit (Connection with God)
Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV): Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
• Focus: Is your connection with God strong? Is there sin, doubt, or bitterness blocking your growth?
• Action: Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal where you’ve strayed. Repent and receive renewal.
2. Examine Your Soul (Mind, Emotions, Will)
Lamentations 3:40 (KJV): Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
• Focus: Are your thoughts, emotions, and decisions aligned with God’s Word?
• Action: Evaluate your desires. Surrender your mind, will, and emotions to God’s direction.
3. Examine Your Body (Physical Health and Actions)
Romans 12:1 (KJV): Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
• Focus: Are your actions and habits honoring God?
• Action: Assess how you treat your body. Discipline yourself to glorify God in all you do.
Commitment:
Examination is not a one-time act but a continual discipline. Daily, invite the Holy Spirit to reveal, correct, and empower you to live in alignment with His will.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, examine my spirit, soul, and body. Reveal anything that separates me from You. Renew me, cleanse me, and align me with Your purpose. Empower me to walk in purity, faith, and holiness. I commit to continual examination by Your Spirit. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
