Activate Hebrews 10

Scripture

“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

— Hebrews 10:22–24 (NIV)

Ponder This

Hebrews 10 is a powerful reminder of what Jesus accomplished for us and how we are called to live in response. The chapter tells us that through the sacrifice of Christ, we now have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place, something unthinkable under the old covenant. The blood of animals could never take away sin, but the blood of Jesus did what the law could not: it made us clean once and for all.

Because of this, we are invited to draw near to Our Father boldly, not timidly. We are called to hold fast to hope, even when life tries to shake us. And we are challenged to spur one another on, to push each other toward love, faith, and good works.

Hebrews 10 also warns us not to shrink back. There will be times when our faith is tested, when trials feel heavy, or when discouragement creeps in. But this chapter reminds us: “My righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back” (v. 38). We are not those who shrink back; we are those who believe and press forward.

Practical Application

Draw near daily. Make it a habit to come before Our Father with sincerity, bringing your whole heart.

Hold fast to hope. Don’t let go of the promises you’ve received. Speak them. Pray them. Live in them.

Spur someone on. Encourage another believer this week - call, text, or pray with them. Your faith can strengthen theirs.

Stay anchored in faith. Refuse to retreat in fear. Remind yourself that you belong to The Father.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the once-and-for-all sacrifice of Jesus. I choose to come boldly into Your presence. I desire and declare that I will hold fast to the hope You’ve given me, and I will not shrink back. Strengthen me to move forward in faith, encouraging others along the way, and standing firm in Your promises. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
