Change is Guaranteed: Growth is Optional
Devotional Thought:
Change is a constant. Seasons shift. People evolve. Circumstances move. Whether we’re ready or not, change comes knocking, sometimes with a whisper, sometimes like a whirlwind.
But growth? Growth is a choice. It’s what we do with the change that defines us.
Jesus didn’t call us to a life of comfort, He called us to greater. In John 14:12 (KJV), He said: “He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do…”
But here’s the catch:
Sometimes, good works can be the enemy of greater works. When we cling to what’s familiar, what once worked, instead of following God’s leading into the unknown, we risk settling. And... settling is disobedience when God is calling us higher.
Growth requires humility, surrender, and a willingness to move beyond what’s comfortable. God doesn’t just want our activity, He wants our alignment.
Romans 12:2 (NLT) reminds us: “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” Transformation is not automatic, it’s intentional.
Reflection:
• Am I holding on to something that used to be good, but is now keeping me from greater?
• Where is God calling me to grow that I’ve been resisting?
Prayer:
Papa God, I don’t want to settle for good when You’ve called me to greater. Help me to recognize when my comfort is turning into disobedience. Change me. I choose to grow. I choose and desire to align with Your purpose...help me...so I can walk fully in the greater works You’ve promised. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
