Decide to Follow: The Yielded Life
Scripture:
Then he said to them all, “If anyone wants to follow after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
— Luke 9:23 (CSB)
Thought:
To follow Jesus is more than a moment, it’s a decision we make daily. A choice to yield. A decision to let go of control and trust.
Following means releasing our grip on outcomes, timelines, and understanding. It’s surrendering the driver’s seat and saying, “Jesus, wherever You go, we're going too.” We won’t always have the full map, but when we decide to follow, Holy Spirit, our Guide, leads us victoriously!
Some days, following looks like moving forward. Other days, it looks like waiting patiently. Sometimes it looks like walking away from what we wanted, and other times it looks like standing still when everything says run.
The yielded life is not a passive life. It’s a power-filled life. It is the life of someone who has decided to follow, and not turn back.
Declaration:
I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back. I yield to His ways, His will, and His timing. I trust that His path leads to more than abundant life, purpose, and peace. I am not led by fear. I am led by faith.
Prayer:
Lord, today I make the decision to follow You: fully and freely. Teach me to yield when I want to rush. Help me to walk when I want to run ahead and control. Thank You for training my spirit to trust You in the unknown. I choose Your lead over my logic. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
