Fix Our Eyes

Fix Our Eyes

Scripture:

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)

Ponder This

Life has a way of pulling our attention in a hundred different directions - problems, pressures, and people can easily distract us. The enemy’s strategy has always been to get us to look away from Jesus. When Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water, he did so as long as his eyes were fixed on Jesus. The moment he shifted his focus to the winds and waves, fear replaced faith, and he began to sink (Matthew 14:29–30).

Fixing our eyes means refusing to let circumstances, emotions, or even successes steal our gaze from the One who holds us steady. Jesus is not only the author of our faith, He is also the finisher, the One who perfects and brings it to completion. When our eyes are fixed on Him, we are anchored in peace and empowered to run the race marked out for us, until completion.

Activation: The “Look Up” Reset

Whenever you feel distracted, anxious, or pulled away by circumstances, pause for one minute and activate your faith with intentionality:

1. Physically Look Up – Lift your head and eyes toward Heaven. This simple act shifts our posture and reminds us where our help comes from (Psalm 121:1–2).

2. Speak a Scripture Out Loud – For example: “I lift my eyes to the hills, my help comes from the Lord.” (Psalm 121:1–2) or “I fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.” (Hebrews 12:2). Speaking truth redirects our mind.

3. Take a Deep Breath & Release It in Prayer – As you exhale, whisper, “Jesus, my eyes are on You.” This anchors our focus and calms our spirit.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I confess that my eyes have often drifted to my problems instead of Your promises. Today, I choose to fix my gaze on You, the steady rock of my salvation. Thank You for helping me to see beyond the temporary and to focus on the eternal. I choose to continue growing by activating my faith further, aligning and steadying my steps in Your Word, and running my race with endurance. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
