Glean from the Ground You’ve Denied

Glean from the Ground You’ve Denied

Scripture:

“So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.”

Ruth 2:17 (KJV)

Ruth didn’t start with ownership, she started with gleaning. As a Moabite widow in a foreign land, she humbled herself to gather leftover grain behind the harvesters. The field was not hers, but it held provision assigned to her by divine arrangement. Sometimes, God calls us to glean from places we wouldn’t have chosen, territories we’ve overlooked, denied, or assumed held no value.

Gleaning is not glamorous. It’s gathering the fragments, the overlooked, the leftovers. But provision can be hidden in what others, and even we, refuse to claim. Holy Spirit is the One that can reveal the hidden treasures and help us glean them. You may have denied the value of your own story, your own land, your own gifts. But God says, “Glean again. There is treasure here.”

Where have you determined, "There is nothing here for me?" Go back. Look again. Glean with new eyes. The very thing you thought was barren can hold great blessings.

Prayer:

Papa God, open my eyes to the ground I’ve denied. Help me glean with grace and gratitude, trusting that You never waste a single field. Forgive me for the times that I thought the fields in my territory were worthless. I ask for wisdom to help me glean the hidden treasures. I thank You for recovering grace. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
