I Hit the Rock — Forgive Me Lord!

Scripture: Numbers 20:8, 11 (KJV)

Verse 8: “Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water: and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.”

Verse 11: “And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.”

Ponder This

While leading the Israelites through the wilderness, Moses faced complaints about having no water. Our Father instructed him to speak to the rock, but in frustration, Moses struck it twice. Water still came forth, but Moses' failure to trust and honor Our Father through obedience cost him the opportunity to lead the people into the Promised Land.

Sometimes we find ourselves like Moses. Instead of speaking to the rock, we hit the rock. We allow frustration, anger, or impatience to override Our Father's instructions.

Just because something works doesn’t mean we handled it Our Father's way!

World Changers, don’t allow temporary emotions to produce lasting consequences. When we hit the rock, we must acknowledge our actions, repent, and realign ourselves with Our Father’s instructions.

Reflection

Do I allow temporary emotions to produce lasting consequences?

Prayer

Our Father, forgive me for allowing my emotions to override Your instructions. Thank You for helping me to hear, trust, and obey Holy Spirit, even in moments of frustration. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
