Joy in Completion
Scripture:
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
— Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)
Ponder This:
Completion is not only about reaching the end; it is about living with joy and arriving at completion with sustainable joy. Jesus Himself modeled this for us. He endured the cross, not because it was easy, but because of the joy set before Him. His joy carried Him to completion, declaring from the cross, “It is finished.”
Our flesh often struggles in this area. We get tired, distracted, or even tempted to quit. But joy is the strength that steadies us when our flesh grows weary. Nehemiah declared, “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10), reminding us that joy is not just a feeling - it is power from God to finish what He has placed in our hands.
Joy reframes completion. It turns finishing from a burden into a blessing. It lifts our eyes from what is draining us to what Father God is producing in us. Each completed assignment, each closed season, each fulfilled promise is not just an ending - it is a testimony that Father God is faithful and that His joy has carried us through.
Reflection:
• Where do I need to exchange weariness for joy so I can finish well?
• What joy has Father God already set before me that will empower me to endure?
• How can I celebrate small completions as reminders of His faithfulness?
Prayer:
Lord God, thank You for the joy that carries us into completion. I confess that my flesh grows weary, but I choose to receive the strength of Your joy. Thanks for reminding me that what You start, You finish, and that joy is the key that unlocks endurance. Fill me today with joy that overflows into every unfinished place, until I see it completed in You. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Declaration:
The joy of the Lord is my strength to finish. What Father God begins in me, He completes. I will not end in defeat, but in joy!
