Let His Glory Rest Upon You

Let His Glory Rest Upon You

Scripture Focus:

“If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.”

— 1 Peter 4:14 (ESV)

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

— 2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV)

Devotion:

There is something unspeakably powerful about being marked by God’s glory. It’s not just for moments of celebration and strength, but especially in moments of weakness, struggle, and rejection.

In 1 Peter 4:14, we are told that when we suffer for Christ’s sake, we are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon us. That word rest means to dwell, to remain, to bring refreshment. It’s not a fleeting encounter. It’s a holy covering.

Paul echoes this truth in 2 Corinthians 12 when he speaks of the thorn in his flesh, a persistent struggle that he pleaded with God to remove. But God’s response wasn’t a removal; it was a revelation: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Paul’s conclusion? “I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Let that sink in: The power of Christ rests on us when we admit our need, our frailty, our inability to carry everything alone. His glory doesn’t shy away from our broken places, it rests there. It is drawn to our surrender.

So today, if you feel weak, weary, or wounded, you are in the perfect posture for God’s glory to settle on you. Don’t resist the process. Don’t despise the thorn. Let His glory rest.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You that even in my weakness, You are working. Your glory is not just reserved for my strong days, but it rests on me even in trials. Like Paul, I choose to rejoice in my weaknesses because I know Your power is being perfected in me. May Your Spirit of glory settle on me today, reminding me that I am never alone, never without grace, and never without purpose. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
