Morning Glory: Renewed in His Presence

Scripture Focus:

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

— Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

Reflective Thought

Each morning is a gift, a fresh opportunity to step into God’s presence and experience His glory. The phrase “morning glory” reminds us of both the beauty of a new day and the spiritual renewal that God offers with each sunrise. Just as the flowers of the morning glory vine open each day to receive the light, so too are we called to open our hearts to the love, guidance, and mercies of God.

Mornings are not just about physical awakenings but also spiritual renewal. God’s mercies are new every morning, not because He forgets our yesterday, but because He desires to continually refresh, restore, and equip us for what lies ahead. Morning is a time to leave behind the weight of yesterday, embrace His forgiveness, and step into the light of His glory.

Scriptural Foundations

1. Seek Him Early

“O Lord, in the morning You hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for You and watch.” — Psalm 5:3 (ESV)

• Beginning our day in communion with God sets the tone for the rest of our day. It’s in these quiet moments that we align ourselves with His will.

2. His Light in Our Lives

“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” — Proverbs 4:18 (NIV)

• Morning glory reflects the growing light of God’s truth and guidance in our lives. The more we walk in His ways, the brighter our lives shine.

3. The Renewal of His Mercies

“Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life.” — Psalm 143:8 (NIV)

• Mornings are an invitation to experience God’s unfailing love, trust in His plans, and receive the strength to walk in His purpose.

Practical Application

1. Start with Worship

Dedicate the first moments of your day to God. Whether through prayer, reading Scripture, or worship, allow His presence to renew you before engaging with the world.

2. Reflect on His Mercies

Take a moment to thank God for the new mercies He’s given you. Write them down or meditate on how He’s shown His faithfulness in your life.

3. Open Your Heart to His Glory

Just as the morning glory flower unfolds to the sun, open your heart to receive God’s love and guidance. Ask Him to direct your steps, remove yesterday’s burdens, and fill you with His peace.

Prayer

Father, I thank You for the gift of a new morning. Your mercies are fresh, Your love is steadfast, and Your faithfulness is unending. As I rise today, help me to open my heart to Your glory and let Your light guide my steps. Renew my spirit, fill me with Your peace, and empower me to walk in the fullness of Your purpose. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
