No More Turning Away
Scripture:
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” – James 4:17 (KJV)
Reflection:
For too long, we have seen the needs, the brokenness, the injustice, and yet, we (Ecclesia) have turned away. We have remained silent when we should have spoken, stood still when we should have moved, and ignored what God has called us to address. But the time for turning away is over.
God has not called us to be bystanders in a world that desperately needs His light. When we refuse to act in the face of wrong, we are not just passive, we are involved in allowing it to continue. Scripture makes it clear that when we know what is right but fail to do it, it is sin (James 4:17).
Jesus never turned away from the hurting, the oppressed, or the lost. He saw them, engaged them, and transformed them. He calls us to do the same, to see through His eyes, act with His compassion, and move with His authority.
Where Have We Turned Away?
1. From the Lost – Have we ignored those who need salvation?
2. From the Hurting – Have we overlooked the broken and struggling?
3. From Injustice – Have we remained silent when we should have spoken?
4. From God’s Call – Have we avoided the responsibility He placed on us?
God is calling us to open our eyes and engage. It is no longer enough to just pray, we must speak and move. Souls are at stake, and time is short.
Activation:
• Ask God to reveal where you have turned away or been passive. Repent.
• Commit to taking action, whether through prayer, outreach, advocacy, or speaking truth in love.
• Encourage (challenge) others to see and respond to what God is showing them.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for the times I have turned away from what You wanted me to see. Open my eyes to the needs around me and give me the courage to act. I surrender comfort and fear to You, use me as a vessel to bring change, healing, and truth. No more turning away, I will move as You lead. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
