Obey With Courage
Scripture: “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
— Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
Devotion:
Obedience isn’t always convenient, comfortable, or popular, but it is powerful. When God speaks, He’s not just giving us tasks, He’s inviting us into trust; a venture of observation that manifests the absolute wonders of God. Courageous obedience means we say “yes” even when fear whispers “no.” It means moving forward when the path isn’t fully lit, simply because we trust the One who holds the lamp.
Joshua was stepping into unknown territory, taking leadership after Moses. But God didn’t just command him to lead, He commanded him to obey with courage. Strength came with the call. Victory came with obedience. And presence came with both.
Like Joshua, your obedience may require risk. It may require silence when others shout. It may require speaking truth when others remain quiet. But when your obedience is rooted in faith, courage will rise, and God will back you up.
Declaration:
I choose to obey with courage. I will not be moved by fear or doubt. I trust God’s voice more than my comfort. I will walk boldly into every assignment, for the Lord my God is with me.
Reflection Questions:
1. What has God asked of you that feels uncomfortable or risky?
2. Are you willing to obey even when the outcome is uncertain?
3. How can you strengthen your courage through prayer and the Word today?
Prayer:
Lord, help me obey You with courage. When fear rises, I choose to let Your promises rise higher. Give me boldness to walk out what You’ve called me to, knowing that You are with me every step. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
