Prophesy to the Wind
Scripture Focus: Ezekiel 37:9
“Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’”
Ezekiel found himself in a valley of dry bones—a picture of hopelessness, death, and despair. God asked him a question: “Can these bones live?” In the natural, it seemed impossible, but Ezekiel responded with faith: “Lord, only You know.” And then came the command: Prophesy to the wind.
The wind represents the Ruach—the Spirit of God, the breath of life. This wasn’t just an ordinary breath; it was the power of God to restore, revive, and bring back to life what seemed beyond hope. Ezekiel’s obedience in speaking God’s Word activated the supernatural. Bones reconnected, flesh reappeared, and the breath of God turned dry bones into a mighty army.
Reflection
What “dry bones” exist in your life today? It could be a broken dream, a struggling relationship, or even a lifeless spiritual walk. Like Ezekiel, God is calling you to prophesy to the wind. Speak life over what seems dead. Declare God’s promises over the barren places. Your words, aligned with God’s Word, have the power to invite the Holy Spirit to breathe restoration and renewal into those situations.
Action Steps
1. Identify Your Dry Bones: Ask God to reveal the areas in your life that need revival.
2. Speak Life: Proclaim Scriptures that align with God’s promises over your circumstances. (“I will restore to you the years the locust has eaten” - Joel 2:25; “The Spirit gives life” - 2 Corinthians 3:6.)
3. Call on the Spirit: Ask the Holy Spirit to come from the four winds and breathe life into your heart, family, and community.
Prayer
Sovereign Lord, I come to You in faith, believing that You can bring life to every dry and broken area in my life. I prophesy to the wind—Holy Spirit, come and breathe revival into my soul, my family, and my purpose. Restore, rebuild, and renew me to stand as part of Your mighty army, filled with life and power. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Takeaway: God’s breath transforms graves into gardens, despair into hope, and lifelessness into purpose. Today, prophesy to the wind and watch God move!
