Sacredness of the Gathering
Scripture:
"Examine your motives to make sure you’re not showing off when you do your good deeds, only to be admired by others; otherwise, you will lose the reward of your Heavenly Father. So when you give to the poor, don’t announce it and make a show of it just to be seen by people, like the hypocrites in the streets and in the marketplace. They’ve already received their reward! But when you demonstrate generosity, do it with pure motives and without drawing attention to yourself. Give secretly and your Father, who sees all you do, will reward you openly. Whenever you pray, be sincere and not like the pretenders who love the attention they receive while praying before others in the meetings and on street corners. Believe me, they’ve already received their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your innermost chamber and be alone with Father God, praying to him in secret. And your Father, who sees all you do, will reward you openly. When you pray, there is no need to repeat empty phrases, praying like the Gentiles do, for they expect God to hear them because of their many words. There is no need to imitate them, since your Father already knows what you need before you ask him. Pray like this: ‘Our Beloved Father, dwelling in the Heavenly realms, may the glory of your name be the center on which our lives turn. Manifest your Kingdom realm, and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth, just as it is in Heaven. We acknowledge you as our Provider of all we need each day. Forgive us the wrongs we have done as we ourselves release forgiveness to those who have wronged us. Rescue us every time we face tribulation and set us free from evil. For you are the King who rules with power and glory forever. Amen.’ And when you pray, make sure you forgive the faults of others so that your Father in Heaven will also forgive you. But if you withhold forgiveness from others, your Father withholds forgiveness from you.”
-Matthew 6:5-15
Ponder This:
When the people of God come together, whether in a living room, a sanctuary, or The Discovery Call, it’s more than a meeting. It’s a moment where we meet with our Sweet Father.
We don’t gather just to talk, we gather to tune in. We gather to align our hearts and ears with the voice of the Lord. That’s why the gathering is sacred.
It is essential that we operate with discernment and wisdom, recognizing that every gathering carries divine potential. What we say, how we listen, and how we yield...all of it shapes the spiritual atmosphere.
Sometimes, without realizing it, we fill the room with conversation that comforts the flesh more than it communes with the Spirit. Let's get the most of our communion with Him and one another. Let's intentionally align in The Spirit.
Our times together are sacred moments for us as the Ekklesia to posture ourselves in His purposes, for communion and command.
What Does “Communion and Command” Mean?
Communion is our deep connection with God and one another. It’s when we quiet ourselves and lean into His presence. It’s not about one voice taking over, it’s about hearing God’s voice together. Communion happens when we worship, listen, and respond with reverence. It’s about being with Him, not just speaking about Him.
Command means spiritual readiness and obedience. It’s when God releases something, whether a prayer, a prophetic word, or a divine instruction, and we act on it. The Ekklesia doesn’t just gather for conversation; we gather to move at His word. We are participants in Heaven’s agenda.
Let us Examine Ourselves:
Are we making space for others to share what the Spirit is stirring in them? Are we guarding the flow of the moment so that God’s heart, not our habits, leads the room?
No one has to dominate the space to be heard by God. And no one has to remain silent if the Spirit is prompting them to speak.
We are all learning. We are all aligning. And we are all listening up - together.
Personal Reflection:
• Is what I’m about to say making space for God to move?
• Am I helping the room stay spiritually in tune?
• Have I paused to hear before I speak?
Prayer:
Sweet Father, we honor the sacredness of our gathering as Your Body. We receive the holy invitation to align. Thank You for helping us to speak with wisdom, listen with grace, and discern with clarity. We crucify our flesh and choose to draw close to You, and each other. We appreciate You positioning us to respond to Your command. We believe that the spaces we occupy are full of Your presence, Your order, and Your glory. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Declaration:
We are the Ekklesia, called out, tuned in, and ready. We gather not to fill atmospheres with our own words, but to fill the atmospheres with reverence to Your Word, expectancy, and unity. We make room for communion with Our Sweet Father, and we stand ready to respond to His command.
