Sit Still & Connect
Scripture:
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
We live in a world that glorifies busyness. Productivity is often mistaken for purpose, and noise is confused with significance. But God invites us into a different rhythm—one where stillness is not emptiness but an opportunity for deep connection.
Sitting still is not about doing nothing; it’s about doing the most important thing—abiding in God’s presence. It is in the quiet moments that we hear His voice, sense His guidance, and receive His peace.
Why Does God Call Us to Be Still?
1. To Recognize His Presence – Stillness makes room for awareness. When we pause, we acknowledge that God is near and actively working in our lives.
2. To Receive His Strength – Resting in Him reminds us that our strength is not in our striving but in His sufficiency.
3. To Reset Our Focus – Silence before God filters out distractions and aligns our hearts with His will.
4. To Experience His Peace – The world is chaotic, but God’s presence is a place of refuge. His peace guards our hearts when we sit still with Him.
A Practical Step: The 5-Minute Connection Challenge
Find a quiet place today. For five minutes, do nothing but sit in stillness before God. No requests. No distractions. Just acknowledge His presence and listen. If thoughts race, gently bring your focus back to Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to embrace stillness as an opportunity to connect with You. Quiet my heart, clear my mind, and remind me that You are in control. In the stillness, let me hear Your voice and rest in Your presence. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
