The Fire That Does Not Destroy, But Develops
Malachi 3:3 (NIV):
He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness.
Reflection
Some fires are sent to destroy. But God’s fire is different. It doesn’t come to ruin us, it comes to refine us. He doesn’t abandon us in the heat, He sits with us in it. Watching. Shaping. Purifying.
Like a master silversmith, He allows the temperature to rise, not to consume us, but to burn away what’s beneath the surface. Impurities. Insecurities. Lies we believed. He doesn’t rush the process, because the fire isn’t punishment, it’s preparation.
In the fire, pride is melted. Faith is molded. In the fire, clarity comes. Calling strengthens. And when He sees His reflection in us, He knows the work is complete.
The fire that should’ve destroyed us is the very place God is developing the new us. Not just for our sake, but for everyone watching. Because fire always draws attention. And what people will see is not our destruction, but His glory in us.
Prayer
Holy Father, Our Refiner, thank You for sitting with us. We welcome Your holy fire to shape what’s eternal and burn away what is not. We choose not to fear the fire. We welcome it, because we trust You. Develop in us what reflects Your image. We look forward to the fire that forges testimony, not just survival. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
