There is Treasure in Submission
Scripture Anchor:
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NIV)
Devotion:
In a world that often celebrates independence, God calls us to interdependence. As believers, we are not just individuals walking solo with God, we are members of a Body, knit together for His purpose. But being part of the Body isn’t just about belonging, it’s about submitting.
Submission to the Body of Christ means yielding to the order, authority, accountability, and fellowship God has established through His people. It’s not about control, it’s about connection. It’s where correction is welcomed in love, where growth is nurtured in community, and where gifts are activated through unity.
True submission is seen when:
• You honor spiritual leadership, even when correction is uncomfortable.
• You serve others, not for attention but from obedience.
• You remain connected, even when conflict tries to divide.
• You show up, not just to receive, but to give.
Christ is the Head, but He works through His Body. That means your healing, breakthrough, and assignment are often tied to your connection. Isolation may feel safe, but submission brings covering. Pride resists it, but humility embraces it.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for the times I resisted the very Body You’ve placed me in. Teach me to submit, not out of fear, but out of faith. Help me to honor, serve, and stay connected. I want to be aligned, accountable, and available for the work of Your Kingdom. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Reflection:
Ask yourself: Am I truly submitted to the Body of Christ, or am I just loosely connected? What steps can I take to honor my place and strengthen my connection with others in the Body? Submission is not weakness, it’s positioning for purpose.
