Wonder-filled Daily: Living Beyond the Season
Scripture:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8
“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14
Devotion:
Christmas is a season bursting with awe and wonder. We celebrate the miracle of Emmanuel—God with us—and marvel at the glory of the Savior’s birth. But here’s the truth: Christ didn’t come for one season. He came for every day.
The danger of Christmas is that we often box up the wonder along with the decorations. We move on, waiting for another special occasion to pause and reflect. But the miracle of Christ’s birth wasn’t meant to be remembered once a year. It’s an invitation to live wonder-filled daily.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, didn’t let the amazement of that holy night fade. Scripture says, “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19). She carried the wonder of Christ into the ordinary—and even difficult—days that followed. Mary knew that the Savior’s arrival wasn’t a moment to move on from—it was a reality to live in.
We too can live in that reality. The Christ who came for us in Bethlehem still comes to us today—in every sunrise, every answered prayer, and every whisper of His Spirit. But more than that, He carries us in our troubled times. He is the Wonder-filled Christ who steps into the pain, the brokenness, and the unknown with us.
When life feels overwhelming, Christ’s presence brings peace that defies understanding (Philippians 4:7). When we walk through seasons of loss or fear, His love reminds us we are never alone. Even in the darkest moments, Christ is the light that shines, the promise that holds, and the wonder that remains.
Living wonder-filled daily doesn’t mean life will always feel easy, but it does mean we have a Savior who walks with us every step of the way. The same Jesus who came in a stable will come into your storm. He is Emmanuel—God with us—in every season, every trial, and every joy. Will we treasure and ponder His presence, not just in the good times but in the difficult ones as well?
Reflection Questions:
• What ordinary moments in your life reflect the extraordinary presence of Christ?
• How has Christ carried you through a difficult time, bringing wonder even in the midst of struggle?
Call to Action:
Make today a wonder-filled day. Start by pausing to reflect on Christ’s presence in your life right now. Write down three ways He has carried you through challenging times. Then, ask God to open your eyes to His glory—not just in the joys of life but also in the struggles.
Prayer:
Jesus, You are the Wonder-filled Christ—not just for Christmas but for every moment of my life, even the hard ones. Thank You for carrying me through my troubles, for being Emmanuel—God with me—in every trial. Help me to see Your glory daily, to treasure Your presence, and to trust in Your faithfulness even when life is hard. Teach me to live wonder-filled daily, reflecting Your love and peace no matter my circumstances. In the name of Jesus, I choose to engage wonder! Amen.
Closing Thought:
Living wonder-filled daily means embracing the truth that Christ is Emmanuel—God with us—not just in seasons of joy but in the struggles as well. Don’t wait for a season to marvel at His presence. Let His wonder transform your life, today and always, even in the hardest times.
